PARISH: TITLE: Maintenance Person
Approximately 5 hours per week.
The following list of major duties and responsibilities does not necessarily represent any one job. It is the compilation of the diversity of the job duties fulfilled by many people who may have a job title similar to that of Maintenance Person. It is not an expectation that any one person necessarily fulfills all of these job duties. It is also recognized that there may be elements of a job which are not included in the checklist. Parishes are encouraged to create individual job descriptions, using these checklists as a normative guideline in this effort.
I. POSITION PURPOSE
Provides hands-on maintenance services to buildings, grounds and vehicles.
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Performs preventive maintenance to buildings and grounds to minimize plumbing,
mechanical, electrical, heating and air conditioning system failures.
B. Diagnoses problems and makes needed repairs to buildings.
C. Diagnoses problems with parish vehicles and maintenance equipment and makes
needed repairs.
D. Checks boilers for proper operation making adjustments as appropriate.
E. Secures buildings when not in use.
III. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
A. Sets up for special events (e. g. chairs, tables and other equipment for special
events).
B. Performs other duties as may be assigned.
