Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Vancouver, WA, is seeking an Elementary and Middle School Spanish Teacher who can join our team for the 25/26 school year. This candidate needs to be proficient and qualified to deliver instruction including (but not limited to) conversational Spanish and introductory grammar skills in the elementary program and H.S. Spanish 1 in the Middle School Program.  Our Spanish Teacher will collaborate with staff and the school community to ensure that we fulfill the mission of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School (located in Vancouver, Washington), fostering faith-filled students, lifelong learners, and good citizens. We are looking for someone with positive energy and a team player.


In addition to Spanish, this candidate must be committed to teaching the faith and providing all students with an equitable and inclusive education in a community that celebrates its diversity. Applicants should be passionate about Catholic education, interested in working as part of both the elementary team (Grades k - 5) and middle school team (Grades 6-8), be comfortable using educational technology in instruction, able to differentiate instruction, and make regular use of formal and informal assessments as an integral part of curriculum planning and instruction.  Candidates need to hold or be working toward a current Washington State teaching certificate endorsed in Elementary Education, or other certification approved by the State of Washington. Preference will be given to candidates with successful teaching experience.
 
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES:

  • Have a strong knowledge of Spanish language, culture and history sufficient to teach through H.S. Spanish, and a passion for teaching it
  • Bring with them a commitment to Catholic education
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop lesson plans and supplementary material including multi-level lessons to engage differentiated learning groups
  • Demonstrate an ability to use instructional technology effectively, including interactive whiteboards, document cameras, and Google Apps for Education
  • Demonstrate an ability to integrate modern technologies, media and other tools into instruction
  • Desire to work collaboratively with the teaching team on behalf of students, and seek the ideas, feedback or advice of colleagues
  • Act as a role model by helping students feel motivated and following the school’s Mission and School Wide Learning Expectations
  • Demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain standards of student behavior through relationship building, positive reinforcement and support
  • Demonstrate an ability to create and maintain a positive classroom environment
  • Teach and develop strategies to resolve conflict
  • Evaluate and document academic and social growth of students, and maintains required records
  • Communicate regularly and thoroughly with families
  • Supervise and monitor students in class and during transitions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Recognize regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Engage learners in a positive, nurturing learning environment
  • Demonstrate an understanding of essential mathematic standards and learning objectives and their vertical alignment
  • Use summative and formative assessments to drive instruction and differentiation

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Committed to teaching the Catholic faith

  • Desires to teach students from various cultural backgrounds with diverse academic needs 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or equivalent background 

  • Washington State teacher certification or equivalent

  • Fluent in Spanish language and knowledgeable of Spanish culture and history

  • Successful criminal background check

  • Completion of VIRTUS Safe Environment Training

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
