Description

Purpose:  Assist in carrying out the parish mission of helping individuals grow as disciples of Jesus Christ by forming the youth and young adults of the area with opportunities for prayer and worship, catechesis, community, and service of others, as a part of wider created vision of fostering the life of faith. 

 

Youth Ministry

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the Middle School and High School Youth Ministry programs, currently using Edge and Life Teen, including calendar and curriculum planning, purchasing food, teaching, organizing games, leading prayer, guiding small groups, etc., utilizing volunteers as well.
  2. Coordinate additional opportunities for prayer, service of those in need, recreation, or social gatherings, and other activities.
  3. Organize outside opportunities, including youth conferences and missions, and potential fundraising to defer costs to families.
  4. Recruit, train and oversee volunteers who will support the programs and serve as witnesses of faith.
  5. Communicate with youth, their families, the staff, and the wider parish community, by utilizing email, social media and the website to foster community.

 

Young Adults

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Support the volunteer leaders of the parish family Young Adult ministry.
  2. Assist with communications, facility reservations, advertising, planning, and implementation.
  3. Provide connections to wider Archdiocesan young adult groups and opportunities.

 

Other Duties:

  1. Assist parents in their primary responsibility of helping their children encounter and follow Jesus Christ.
  2. Participate in staff meetings and other gatherings, and support other staff as needed in their tasks.
  3. Develop and manage the program budgets to carry out the mission.
  4. Provide backup as needed to website management or other parish communications.

 

  1. Continue to grow and foster the personal life of faith through prayer, study, attendance at Archdiocesan or other ministry gatherings, etc.
  2. Connect with other youth leaders in the area.
  3. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. A practicing Catholic who can serve as a faithful witness to others, proclaiming the Gospel and sharing the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  2. A passion for helping others grow in their relationship for Christ and engagement in the life of the Church.
  3. A proven ability to collaborate with others and communicate effectively.
  4. Ability to work nights and weekends, and travel for conferences or missions. 
  5. A bachelor’s degree in related field, or comparable experience in youth ministry. 
  6. Must keep a clean and current background check, compliance with the Safe Environment program, and be able to lift at least 20 pounds.

 

 

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
