GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under direct supervision of the Manager of Community Day Services (MCDS), the Lead Bus/Van Driver drives Macon Resources, Inc. (MRI) vehicles transporting designated persons to and from MRI training sites; physically assists to those persons entering and exiting buses/vans when necessary; and coordinates the development and implementation of efficient transportation route schedules.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drives MRI buses/vans, transporting persons served to and from training services and supports; observes all local, state, and federal laws, as well as all agency policies and procedures.
- Provides verbal and/or physical assistance when necessary to persons served entering and exiting bus/van.
- Completes pre-route safety check prior to beginning each route on Pre-Route Safety Check form; collects and stores both forms to be presented for viewing when requested by DCDS, MCDS, or outside surveyors.
- Completes vehicle attendance form for each route driven and files attendance forms on a monthly basis.
- Tracks, schedules, and coordinates all required and/or emergency maintenance of CDS vehicles using spreadsheets, requesting payment as necessary using purchase orders, and assuring ample vehicles remain available to complete transportation of persons served daily.
- Tracks, informs and is the point of contact for vehicle maintenance for all CLS vehicles. This is done by notifying appropriate supervisor of needed services and submitting appropriate paperwork for payment of services rendered. Serves as the point of contact between CLS supervisors and vehicle repair shops as needed.
- Tracks and schedules all IDOT physicals for CDS drivers by due dates to assure all requirements are met.
- Coordinates vehicle request forms and assures vehicles are assigned based on group size for each community-based training opportunity.
- Trains all new CDS and CLS drivers as requested, assuring safety measures including pre-route safety checks and safe driving principles are communicated and adhered to.
- Assures all drivers complete the pre-route safety check form by providing coaching about the importance of completion for the safety of persons served and for the maintenance of agency vehicles.
- Reports information to the MCDS which is presented by persons served served/caregivers during transportation. Completes Accident/Incident and/ or Behavior Reports when necessary and submits those documents to the specified case manager the day the incident occurs. Delivers log books, messages, etc., to and from MRI.
