Position Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, appealing meals that support our residents’ health and dietary needs. This includes following planned menus and standardized recipes, while ensuring cleanliness, safety, and food quality. The role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and a passion for serving others, especially the elderly.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to menu, dietary restrictions, and standardized recipes
- Ensure meals are visually appealing and served at proper temperatures
- Maintain high standards of sanitation, safety, and cleanliness in food preparation areas
- Assist with food preparation for special events or facility-wide functions
- Use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Monitor food inventory and report shortages to the supervisor
- Follow all food safety and infection control procedures
- Collaborate with dietary staff to ensure a smooth workflow
Qualifications
- Education & Language:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English fluently
- Certifications:
- ServSafe Certification preferred
- CPR Certification preferred
- Experience:
- Experience in a healthcare, hospital, or skilled nursing facility preferred
- Must adhere to hygiene and uniform standards at all times
