EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 21 years of age and have and have 240 hours of experience in an approved education setting.
- Must meet all Child Care Licensing requirements including one of the following: Two DCF-approved courses in early childhood education (credit or non-credit); a Wisconsin Preschool or Infant-Toddler Credential; 48 credits from an institution of higher education with at least 3 credits in early childhood education; an Associate’s degree or higher in early childhood education; a Child Development Association credential; or otherwise qualified as a Teacher through The Wisconsin Registry.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred.
- Minimum of one-year related experience working with school-aged children is required along with a minimum of one-year working in a camp setting.
- Must be able willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, Mandated Reporter, and Wisconsin Registry certification.
- Must have a sincere interest and ability to comprehend needs and develop positive outcomes in children from diverse populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others.
- Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
- Exhibit the core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.
- Must have a current driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple work sites during a workday.
- Schedule must be flexible in order to serve a variety of shifts at multiple locations as needed during the work day.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. and work indoors and outdoors; must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children; see and hear well enough to keep children safe; and engage in physical activity with children.
