EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have high school diploma or equivalent (for all positions except assistant instructors).
- Must meet all licensing requirements required for the position hired for.
- Prior experience in a licensed childcare program preferred.
- Must be able and willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (if applicable), Mandated Reporter, and Wisconsin Child Care Registry certifications, and additional non-credit coursework (as needed).
- Must have a sincere interest and ability to comprehend needs and develop positive outcomes in children from diverse populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others.
- Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
- Exhibit the core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. and work indoors and outdoors; must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children; see and hear well enough to keep children safe; and engage in physical activity with children.
