Operating for over 100 years, Cold River camp is on the Maine/ New Hampshire border tucked away in peaceful Evans Notch. White Mountain National Forrest (WMNF) Cold River Camp is a full-service AMC facility offering individual cabin accommodations with plenty of nearby rivers, ponds, back roads, and hiking trails where guests can depart for daily adventures and outdoor exploration. Family-style meals are served in the lodge dining room. Guests stay for week-long sessions from mid-June through late August.
The Prep Cook’s main responsibility is to assist the Head Cook and Assistant Cook in all aspects of the food service at Cold River Camp. The Prep Cook’s position reports directly to the Head Cook and Assistant Cook, and Manager(s). The Prep cook helps supervise the Dish-room Crew and other Crew assigned to the kitchen. The Prep Cook should be able to effectively assume responsibilities in the absence of the Assistant Cook. The work week is composed of shifts that run between 5:00am and 8pm with 2 days off per week coordinated with the other staff. All staff are required to work Saturdays throughout the summer season. Gratuity, though not guaranteed, is often generous and supplements the salary nicely.

What you’ll be doing at AMC
- Assist in food preparation, kitchen cleanliness and safety as directed
- Help supervise Dish-room Crew while in the kitchen.
- Be knowledgeable about responsibilities of the Assistant Cook and effectively assume those responsibilities when the Assistant Cook is absent or acting as Head Cook
- Bring any issues or concerns to the attention of the Head Cook, Assistant Cook, or Manager(s).
- Other duties as assigned.
