Just 38 miles from the bustling energy of New York City lies Harriman State Park, New York's second-largest State Park. Boasting 31 pristine lakes and an extensive 200-mile network of hiking trails, the opportunities for outdoor adventures are limitless. At the gateway to Harriman State Park awaits the Reeves Meadow Visitor Center, ready to extend a warm welcome to patrons. We are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to provide exceptional guest services/merchandising in the picturesque Harriman State Park. What you’ll be doing at AMC

· Welcome and assist patrons with a friendly and approachable attitude.

· Provide accurate and up-to-date trail information, along with recommendations for local tourism and hospitality attractions.

· Demonstrate proficiency in managing Point of Sale (POS) systems, receiving deliveries, and efficiently stocking merchandise to maintain a well-organized and visually appealing retail environment.

· Develop a comprehensive understanding of all retail items.

· Take responsibility for organizing backstock, maintaining cleanliness in buildings, bathrooms, and grounds, contributing to a positive and welcoming atmosphere for park patrons.

· Actively promote and sell AMC memberships, emphasizing the benefits and value of joining the Appalachian Mountain Club.

· During emergencies, promptly refer patrons to the appropriate state agency personnel, ensuring their safety and well-being.

· Demonstrate flexibility by being available to work weekends, nights, and holidays.

· Maintain and promote AMC standards in all forms of hospitality.

Qualifications

What AMC is looking for

· Exceptional guest services skills and a demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Appalachian Mountain Club.

· Possess a fundamental understanding of the safe practices during hiking and outdoor activities.

· Proven ability to successfully accomplish multiple tasks without direct supervision.

· Must have reliable transportation.

· Exceptional customer service skills and ability to be a team player within a detail-oriented, fast-paced environment.

· Possesses some knowledge of retail/merchandising practices.

· Must be enthusiastic and enjoys working with the public.

· Prior guest services experience is preferred but not necessary.

· Proficient computer skills, including effective typing and strong written communication skills are mandatory. Prior experience with Microsoft Office is expected.

· Must be a team player, detail oriented, well organized, highly flexible, adaptable, and resourceful.

· Physical abilities needed: ability to stand and walk for 9 hours at a time and lift up to 50 pounds from waist to head height or from floor to waist height is required.

Salary range: $17.00/hour

We are committed to fair compensation practices, and we encourage qualified candidates to apply. The initial salary represents our starting point, and our compensation philosophy is designed to reward and recognize the contributions of our employees as they grow within the organization. External candidates typically begin their journey with us at the starting point of the salary range. The final compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, skills and geographic differential relevant to the position, and will be discussed during the interview process.
