POSITION OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking an experienced HVAC Sheet Metal Foreman to join our fast-growing STR Mechanical team. The ideal candidate will lead and manage a crew of skilled sheet metal installers on commercial HVAC projects. This role is responsible for overseeing on-site activities, ensuring quality and safety standards are met, and delivering projects on schedule. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong field experience and the ability to direct and mentor team members.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and supervise a team of sheet metal installers on commercial HVAC installations
  • Read and interpret mechanical plans, blueprints, and project specifications
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades on-site
  • Ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in alignment with project deadlines
  • Monitor job site materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring efficient use
  • Provide hands-on support and assist in installation work as needed
  • Maintain and submit daily reports, timecards, and site documentation
  • Conduct job site safety meetings and enforce safety protocols
  • Identify and resolve issues or delays proactively
  • Train and develop apprentices and junior crew members
  • Ensure proper installation of ductwork, fans, dampers, and HVAC components

ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT

This position reports to the local VP of Construction.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC sheet metal installation
  • 1–2+ years of leadership or foreman-level experience
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, ductwork types, and installation standards
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  • OSHA 10 (minimum) or OSHA 30 certification preferred, or willing to obtain once hired
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to travel to various job sites as needed
  • Experience with BuildOps or similar construction software, a plus

BEHAVIORAL PROFILE

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret construction documents, safety protocols, and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate with crew, contractors, and clients.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate measurements, materials, angles, and dimensions required for duct fabrication and installation.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to troubleshoot installation challenges and resolve field issues using logic and practical judgment. Must be able to prioritize tasks and manage changing site demands.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Will be required to work in a field environment across multiple commercial construction sites. May be exposed to variable weather conditions, heights, confined spaces, and loud environments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders, and use hands to handle tools or materials. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
