What we are looking for 

Highly motivated individual who provides outstanding customer service by ensuring meats are properly and safely sliced, cut, packaged, displayed, and stocked while maintaining proper rotation of merchandise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cuts, trims, bones, ties, and grinds meats, such as beef, pork, poultry, and fish, to prepare meat in cooking form.
  • Prepares special cuts of meat ordered by customers.
  • Shapes, laces, and ties roasts, using boning knife, skewer, and twine. Uses cutting skills to get primal, sub-primal and retail cuts.
  • Wraps, weights, labels, and prices cuts of meat.
  • Prepares and places meat cuts and products in display counter (or freezer and coolers) to attract shoppers. Ensures (display or freezer and coolers) are properly maintained and stocked.
  • Has experience or is willing to learn how to use new electromechanical meat cutting equipment.
  • Receives, inspects, and stores meat upon delivery, to ensure meat quality.
  • Estimates requirements and orders or requisitions meat supplies to maintain inventory.
  • Records quantity of meat received and keeps records of meat sales.
  • Removes damaged merchandise and place it in its designated area.
  • Ensures correct sign and price is displayed for merchandise.
  • Maintains proper rotation of merchandise.
  • Ensures that all perishable products are put into the proper temperature as quickly as possible.
  • Regularly checks temperatures in freezers/coolers to ensure proper temperature is maintained.
  • Must always keep safety a priority, ensuring all equipment is operated accurately, including pedestrian traffic and forklift operation.
  • Maintains a safe, clean working environment, with the necessary sanitation process, to include maintaining the inside of the meat cutting room and freezer/coolers clean.
  • Maintain pricing in the scale used to weigh meats and cheese.
  • Assists customers as needed. Provides excellent customer service.
  • Maintains knowledge of the State of Texas Meat Assurance and USDA rules, reporting and controls.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of 5 years of related experience and/or training in a meat market, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in handling bandsaw, slicer, and table cutting.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Food Handler’s Certification required.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Position is for our 411 N. Zaragoza, El Paso, TX 79907 store.

Working hours:

Part-Time Position

Monday-Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
