The Enterprise Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data warehouse solutions based on Microsoft Azure technologies, while contributing to data architecture strategy, including modeling, integration, and optimization. This role combines strong engineering execution with architectural insight to ensure data systems are scalable, reliable, and able to support enterprise analytics. Additionally, this position includes hands-on development, technical leadership in data design, and cross-team collaboration.

- Degree in software engineering or computer science, and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of in-depth experience creating business related software applications and tools.
- 2+ years working within the Azure cloud platform preferred
- Experience in designing and implementing data architecture in a cloud-first or cloud-hybrid enterprise.

- Design and implement cloud-based data warehouses using Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure SQL Database to support business intelligence, analytics, and reporting initiatives.
- Build scalable and efficient ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, integrating structured and unstructured data from diverse sources into centralized storage (e.g., Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2).
- Collaborate with data architects and stakeholders to design optimal data models (star/snowflake schemas) and architecture for analytics and operational reporting.
- Establish data architecture standards across Azure environments, ensuring consistency, performance, and scalability.
- Develop scripts using T-SQL, PowerShell, and/or Python to support automation, orchestration, and data transformations.
- Implement Azure security best practices, including role-based access control (RBAC), Private Endpoints, Azure Key Vault, and data encryption.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipeline performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and custom telemetry.
- Work with business units to understand data needs and deliver accessible datasets, analytical models, and reporting layers.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system designs, and data flows.
- Create and maintain policies, best practices and standards documents.
- Participate in data governance efforts including data cataloging, metadata management, and lineage tracking using Azure Purview or equivalent.
- Evaluate and adopt new data services that align with long-term data strategy.

- Technically fluent in Microsoft programming languages.
- Solid working knowledge of current Microsoft technologies including Azure and Visual Studio.
- Knowledge of database scripting with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
- Experience working with core Azure data services, including:
- Azure SQL Database
- Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2
- Azure Blob Storage
- Azure Monitor & Log Analytics
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and database performance tuning.
- Solid command of T-SQL and experience with stored procedures, views, indexing, and optimization techniques.
- Scripting experience with PowerShell and/or Python for automation and pipeline orchestration.
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes using Azure DevOps for data projects, including source control and release pipelines.
- Understanding data security, privacy, and compliance principles in a cloud environment.
- Ability to analyze and improve large-scale data systems for efficiency, quality, and scalability.
- Excellent collaboration, documentation, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Agile software development principles and practices.
- Hands-on software troubleshooting experience.
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
- Ability to perform requirement gathering, analysis, and design, in addition to development, testing, and deployment of finished products.
- Ability to perform as project lead, interact with clients, acquire necessary project resources while being productive and efficient in a complex and dynamic environment.
