We are looking for an experienced Medical Assistant to support our Medical, Cosmetic, and Surgical Dermatology practice in a state-of-the-art facility. What You'll Do:
- Room patients and document medical histories in the EMR
- Assist providers with biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, sutures, laser therapies, and injections
- Scribe notes accurately during patient visits
- Maintain exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and manage clinical supplies
- Schedule follow-up appointments and assist with front office duties as needed
- Handle prescription requests and authorizations
- Provide compassionate patient support and education
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 1-2 years in Dermatology (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of EMR systems
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

The Medical Assistant verifies patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, and documenting purpose of visit. They prepare patients for examination, assist in procedures as appropriate and perform a variety of patient care tasks under the supervision of a licensed health care provider. Duties range widely from administrative to clinical.
Essential Functions:
- Maintaining patient privacy and adhering to HIPAA guidelines at all times.
- Using computer applications- performing any data entry tasks to document patient demographics, records or note to file. Documenting patients' medical information, including medical history and review of symptoms within EHR of patients chart.
- Managing office telephone system, including answering calls and returning messages.
- Scheduling patient appointments and maintaining communication to confirm future appointments when necessary.
- Informing patients on laboratory results and documenting properly within chart.
- Updating and filing patient medical records and or any patient correspondence.
- Coding and filling out insurance forms.
- Transmitting prescription or refill requests as directed by provider.
- Obtaining prescription authorizations for patient medications.
- Reporting and recording applicable diagnosis of malignant results to the FCDS portal.
- Creating certified letter communication for noncompliant patients needing treatment for malignant results.
- Inform management of clinical supplies needed.
Clinical Duties:
- Welcoming and greeting patients.
- Maintaining HIPAA and performing OSHA standards at all times.
- Taking medical histories, recording patients' chief complaint and documenting provider evaluation notes of visit in patients chart.
- Monitoring and documenting patient symptoms for physicians' review during clinical exams.
- Preparing patients for examination-Prepping exam rooms for clinical, surgical or cosmetic procedures and assisting providers during exams with patient care.
- Preparing and administering medications as directed by a provider.
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients.
- Ensuring all consents are signed by the patient prior to provider performing any type of procedure.
- Pre and post photos to be taken and documentation to be listed in detail for any procedure, biopsy or surgical along with cosmetic.
- Collecting, labeling and preparing laboratory specimens.
- Instructing patients about medication.
- Removing sutures and changing dressings.
- Maintaining proper cleaning of medical instruments and sterilization.
- Reviewing office use medication and patient samples expiration dates.
- Properly disinfecting and restocking of medical supplies in patient exam rooms.
- Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention and assistance during office visits. Being a patient Liaison. Medical assistants are instrumental in helping patients feel at ease in the physicians office.
