The role combines security monitoring with staff support, ensuring the HALO Homes operate smoothly and safely while offering emotional and practical assistance to youth in need.
Key Responsibilities
- Security Monitoring:
- Monitor HALO premises to ensure safety and security throughout the night.
- Conduct regular patrols of the building and grounds to check for any suspicious activity or safety hazards.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to any incidents, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and staff.
- Staff Support:
- Provide overnight assistance to Youth Advocate staff, including support with resident needs, conflict resolution, and de-escalation when necessary.
- Assist in ensuring that residents adhere to shelter rules and guidelines while maintaining a respectful and supportive environment.
- Cleaning responsibilities in the HALO Headquarters and Learning Center building, including sweeping and mopping floors and cleaning bathrooms.
- Resident Assistance:
- Offer emotional support and a listening ear to youth residents who may be facing challenges or experiencing distress.
- Maintain a calm and supportive demeanor.
- Support the evening schedule for youth, ensuring they are safely settled in and have the resources they need.
- Help with minor tasks such as ensuring residents have access to food, hygiene items, or other necessities as needed during overnight hours.
- Help with transportation as needed.
- Communication and Documentation:
- Document any incidents, interactions, or observations during the overnight shift and communicate them to the daytime staff team.
- Provide shift handoff updates to morning staff to ensure continuity of care and security.
- Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, resident safety concerns, or other urgent matters.
- Ensure that emergency exits, fire alarms, and safety equipment are fully functional and accessible.
