Role:  MEDICAL BILLING & FINANCE SPECIALIST 

Reports to:  Business Office Supervisor and Director of Finance 

Employment:  Hourly, Non-exempt, 1.0 FTE, full-time 

Compensation: $28-30/hr, 40 hours per week

Schedule:  Monday – Friday – flexible hours 

Location: Quest Center – Multnomah; remote work may be available at manager discretion 

Travel: Some local travel may be required to meet staffing needs (less than 5%) 

 

As our Medical Billing and Finance Specialist, you will be a vital part of our Business Operations Team. Your core responsibilities will be as a Medical Billing Specialist, while also being back up to our Finance team members. You will play a critical role in the day-to-day responsibilities of our business office and finances. We’re looking for someone who is detail oriented, taking the time to double check their work and ensure accuracy. You’ll also be speaking with our clients and internal staff, answering their questions and nerding out to find creative solutions.

 

MEDICAL BILLING RESPONSIBILITIES (to include but not limited to): 

  • Become a part of our Medical Billing/Business Office Team, including: 

  • Posting daily charges into our EMR system, Insync 

  • Supporting our Intake Specialists in checking the more nuanced insurance eligibility with appropriate carriers 

  • Posting payments daily into our EMR system 

  • Requesting the necessary authorizations for services as needed 

  • Back up our Credentialing Specialist 

  • Working with insurance companies to resolve denied claims 

  • Customer service phone calls to help clients understand their statements and balances due, 

  • Internal referrals: Process and verify coverage for integrated services, scheduling appointments per policy 

  • Other duties as needed to be a part of our fully functioning team. 

FINANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (to include but not limited to): 

  • Act at back up to the Director of Finance & the Business Office Supervisor for all daily financial responsibilities, including: 

  • Reviewing daily bank statements, deposits, and posting daily expenditures from the bank logs.  

  • Scanning & copying of receipts for electronic record keeping being compliant with auditing requirements. 

  • Preparing bi-monthly bank deposits in coordination with the People Operations Team’s payroll, including running to the bank for deposits.  

  • Preparing and sending monthly invoices to contractors as directed. 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Computer skills: Word and Excel knowledge are required.  A quick learner who will be able to learn our InSync EMR easily. 

  • Customer service: Must have excellent communications skills, and experience working with people; both on the phone and in person. 

  • Organization: Must have excellent organization and time management skills and the ability to prioritize the workload. 

  • Team Player: The qualified candidate will have the ability to work with others as a part of our team; offering ideas and problem solving and will also know when to ask for help if needed.  The qualified candidate will be able to perform well in a fast-paced, demanding work environment. 

  • Must have 2+ years of medical billing experience. 

  • Must have 1+ years of financial experience in a non-profit or medical setting, knowledge of QuickBooks is a preferred
