Responsible for day-to-day pantry oversight, coordination and organization that includes collecting donations, submitting purchase orders and stocking shelves at the pantry. This position is also responsible for completing routine data entry and submitting monthly food collection and distribution reports. The ability to manage a budget and work with volunteers is essential.

What you Deliver

  • Accept food donations and load, unload, sort, and bag groceries for food distribution.
  • Pick-up bags from Red Barrels at grocery stores when necessary.
  • Stock shelves in food pantry. Order food from Houston Food Bank and other vendors if necessary.
  • Break down bulk food items into family-size servings.
  • Perform routine data entry to track food purchased, collected, and distributed.
  • Complete reports to monitor distribution including Temperature Log.
  • Supervise volunteers working in the food pantry stocking area.
  • Keep pantry coolers, equipment & property neat and clean, both in and outside the building daily.
  • Perform maintenance and safety checklist monthly.
  • Performing other duties as assigned such as participating in staff retreats, meetings, United Way events, and assisting with special organization projects/events.

Qualifications

The Expertise We're Looking For

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Two (2) years of experience in building services or related field

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information.

  • Proficient in computer usage and office products.

  • Ability to work with diverse populations in crisis situations.
