Description

Position Summary

Scheduling Order preparation for domestic and international shipments to ensure on time deliveries as per customer expectations. Responsibilities include complete and accurate shipping documents and interaction with international freight forwarders regarding shipping arrangements and requirements. Position will be trained to know how to properly obtain Tariff codes for FG products.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Problem-solves supply and distribution logistical issues in collaboration with teams throughout the organization by evaluating supply and distribution methods and recommending cost effective solutions based on needs and capabilities.  Analyze freight costs and explore methods of reducing total cost to customer.
  • Track all domestic and international shipments leaving SDC Irvine to determine if there are any customs issues or other shipping delays.
  • Attend Certified Training programs for international shipping regulations and requirements.
  • Report major discrepancies and late shipments to evaluate and approves freight forwarders and authorizes preferred vendor status.
  • Audit questionable invoices against freight quotes, research discrepancies, match, process, and approve for payment.
  • Create shipping documents based upon sales reports and prepare documents for domestic and international shipment. 
  • Interface with customers, Customer Care Team, and freight forwarders regarding customized reports, shipping instructions and order processing needs.  Create Bills of Lading and Shippers Letter of Instruction for domestic shipments, and commercial invoice and dangerous goods forms for air shipments,
  • Maintain electronic record of daily shipments and KPI’s.
  • Obtain support from Supply Chain Specialist in interacting with various international freight forwarders and DOT/lATA regarding specific shipping arrangements and requirements, pick up times and other special arrangements.
  • Coordinate with MFG Planners and Shipping and Warehouse Manager regarding what will be needed for following week’s production schedule.
  • Perform inventory cycle counts as directed.
  • Research data bases for the correct Tariff code with the support of the Regulatory Affairs and Product Steward
  • Create shipping documents based upon sales reports and prepares boxes for domestic and international shipment.  Create labels, attaches them to shipping boxes, and fills boxes with the correct product.
  • Ensure all relevant order paperwork/packaging is available for shipping team to prepare orders within agreed time frames.
  • Prepare raw materials and commodities for shipment to offsite storage locations.
  • Receive all raw materials and dry goods and tags all raw materials with labels.
  • Pull samples from raw materials and take to lab for testing to ensure they meet specifications, and for verification of expiration dates.
  • Tag drums to show that materials have passed Quality Control, and tag manufactured products that have passed Quality Control.
  • Follow up with purchase orders that are outstanding.
  • Handle returned products and pull samples for lab to retest if needed.

  • Associate's degree and minimum five years chemical goods warehouse and international shipping experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of import, export, and Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Ability to utilize Word and Excel applications.
  • Knowledge of Hazshipper compliance software and Dangerous Goods Certification, a plus
  • Forklift Certification required.
