Summary of Position

The Campus Worship Leader strives to worship God and disciple worshipers by embodying and executing Summit Worship DNA. This individual leads congregation and volunteer teams in gathered worship in alignment with the Campus Pastor and Central Ministries and contributes to the central ministry of Summit Worship. The Campus Worship Leader is a direct report to the Campus Pastor and also receives coaching and leadership from Central Summit Worship Staff.

The campus staff will work as a team to do whatever it takes for the well-being of the West Cary Campus. The Campus Worship Leader should embody a first generation mentality that is willing to help own other areas of ministry alongside campus staff (missions, events, setup and teardown, etc.).

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A commitment to servant leadership (Mk. 10:45; Col. 3:23-24).
  • A proven proficiency in basic music theory and practice vocally and instrumentally.
  • A commitment to the biblical priority of congregational singing (Eph. 5:18-19; Col. 3:16).
  • The theological competency to choose music for congregational settings that are distinctly and clearly Christian in its lyrics and reflect the biblical language and themes.
  • Administrative proficiency
  • Lives or is willing to relocate within the region of the West Cary Campus
  • A member or willing and able to become a member of The Summit Church

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Serve The Summit Church
    • Plan congregational gatherings that are God-exalting, Christ-centered, and Bible-saturated. Lead worship at weekly gatherings at least 42 weekends a year. Congregational services prioritize the congregation’s participation in singing, reading, and praying (as opposed to watching, being inspired, etc). 
  • Build, develop, and lead the campus worship ministry.
    • Recruiting and auditioning prospective team members
    • Provide on-going training for musicians and vocalists
  • Leading and coaching preparations for scheduled weekly worship gatherings
    • Prayerfully creating and executing weekly worship plans that embody Summit Worship DNA.
    • Coordinating details with pastoral (campus and Central) and production staff.
  • Discipleship and Leader development
    • Direct and Indirect discipleship of worship & production ministries.
    • Identifying & equipping potential worship leaders in conjunction with the Pastor of Worship.
  • Support and contribute to Central Worship staff team
    • Attend and actively contribute to Campus meetings.
    • Attend and actively contribute to all Summit Worship meetings.
    • Contribute to church-wide, ministry-wide, and campus events as needed.
  • Any and all other tasks necessary to accomplish the vision and mission of the Summit Church as assigned by supervisors.

 

Churchwide Events

The hours for this position are expected to be 40 hours per week. As one church that meets in many locations, there are several times throughout the year that Summit holds church-wide events in an effort to do whatever it takes to reach all people. All staff members are expected to serve at these church-wide events regardless of the positions they hold. 

Such events include, but are not limited to: Easter services, church-wide prayer meetings, Good Friday service, and Christmas services. Serving expectations will be communicated in advance of each event.
