Summary and Qualifications

Summary of Position

This individual has a shepherding heart for the church and a detail-oriented mind for implementing and overseeing systems. This position assists in serving, leading, and shepherding The Summit Church in its mission to be disciples who make disciples in relationships. They are responsible for the Small Group ministry of The Summit Church and serve as the primary point of connection among the campus small group leaders, coaches, and members.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Personal integrity and evidence of ongoing growth as a Whole Disciple (growing in the identities of Worshiper, Family Member, Servant, Steward, and Witness)
  • Exceptional organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail and a mind for organizing and implementing systems
  • Strong ability to communicate the vision of small groups
  • Gifted in people skills, the ability to build multi-cultural relationships, and work well on a team
  • Ability to recruit, train, coach, and multiply leaders
  • A member of The Summit Church or willing & able to become a member

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Oversees recruitment of new small group leaders and plants new groups
    • Demonstrates vision for small group planting and multiplication; identifies and evaluates potential new leaders
  • Oversees the training of new/existing small group leaders 
    • Collaborates with campus staff and elders regarding two yearly campus trainings
  • Connects individuals to small groups effectively
    • Organizes GroupLink twice a year
    • Determines the most efficient way to place individuals into small groups
  • Resources campus small group coaches
    • Grows a sustainable structure for the care of leaders and cares for leaders 
    • Oversees and facilitates "Next Step Conversations" with small groups and coaches
  • Pastoral Care
    • Works with campus staff and elders to ensure good pastoral care
  • Oversees the Membership Class and other Adult Discipleship Classes
    • Works with campus staff and elders to ensure the execution of these classes
    • Completes follow-up needed: member interviews, system issues, scheduling, etc
  • Attends monthly Central Small Groups meeting

 

Churchwide Events

The hours for this position are expected to be 20 hours per week. As one church that meets in many locations, there are several times throughout the year that Summit holds church-wide events in an effort to do whatever it takes to reach all people. All staff members are expected to serve at these church-wide events regardless of the positions they hold. 

Such events include, but are not limited to: Easter services, church-wide prayer meetings, Good Friday service, and Christmas services. Serving expectations will be communicated in advance of each event.
