This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Internal Communications Coordinator plays a key role in driving effective communication across the organization, fostering a connected and inclusive workplace, and enhancing employee engagement. This individual will bring strong writing and editing skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines. Working closely with internal partners, employee resource groups (ERGs), and the IDEA Council, the coordinator supports a variety of communication initiatives and campaigns that align with organizational goals, amplify DEI efforts, and contribute to a positive employee experience.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Support the internal communications team in crafting messages that build trust in leadership and align with organizational needs.
  • Write, design, and publish employee news and updates, ensuring alignment with internal voice, brand, and messaging guidelines; coordinate reviews with subject matter experts.
  • Assist in planning and producing content for employee meetings; provide day-of support in collaboration with IT.
  • Monitor and assess internal communication channels; recommend enhancements to improve employee engagement and connect employees to the organizational values and mission.
  • Stay current on internal communication trends to inform strategy and support alignment with organizational goals.
  • Attend enterprise project meetings and develop communication plans and deliverables to keep employees informed.
  • Provide administrative and communications to provide administrative and communications support to the IDEA Council and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs),
  • Partners with IDEA Council and ERGs to provide administrative support (meeting coordination, calendar management, content drafting, and progress tracking), and to produce communications that support employee events, education, and cultural observances.
  • Collaborate with the Learning & Development (L&D) team to promote learning opportunities through internal channels.
  • Maintain the internal events calendar and ensure visibility of key activities.
  • Manage and update the intranet and/or employee experience platforms to keep content relevant, timely, and engaging.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:     

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business or other related fields, or equivalent professional experience.

 

Required Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of corporate communication strategies and best practices.
  • Familiarity with digital communication tools and platforms, including intranets, Microsoft Outlook, and collaboration platforms like Microsoft Teams or Slack.
  • Knowledge of employee engagement drivers, organizational culture, and inclusive communication approaches.
  • Awareness of crisis communication principles and the ability to support timely, clear messaging during sensitive situations.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to tone, clarity, grammar, and consistency across communication channels.

 

Experience Required:

  • 2 to 3 years of progressive experience in internal or corporate communications, preferably within complex organizations.
  • Proven excellence in writing, editing, and content development tailored for diverse employee audiences.
  • Hands-on experience managing social media or internal digital communities to boost engagement.
  • Proficiency in communication and collaboration software, including Microsoft 365, Canva, SharePoint or WordPress, or other intranet platforms, and employee experience platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines with strong organizational and prioritization skills.

 

HARD/TECHNICAL Skills/Abilities:

  • Communication: superior written and verbal communication skills capable of conveying complex ideas clearly and persuasively across all organizational levels.
  • Interpersonal: strong relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, leadership, ergs, and external partners.
  • Strategic mindset: ability to think strategically and translate organizational goals into comprehensive communication plans that engage and inspire employees.
  • Design & visual communication: working knowledge of graphic design tools such as adobe photoshop or equivalent, to create visually appealing communication materials that enhance message clarity.
  • Analytical & problem-solving: skilled in identifying communication barriers, analyzing challenges, and proposing practical solutions to improve employee engagement and information flow.
  • Change management: familiarity with change management frameworks and experience in crafting communications that facilitate smooth organizational transitions and employee adoption.
