Position Title: Health Information Support
Location: Colorado Springs, CO (In-person, community-based)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 40 hours per week, schedule set by supervisor
Job Summary:
The Health Information Support role is an essential member of a multidisciplinary team; the Health Information Support provides generalized organization and maintenance of health information while exercising professional-level troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Essential Functions:
· Responsible for receiving incoming e-mails, telephone calls and faxes, processing release of information requests, initiating record requests from external agencies, uploading, organizing and maintaining documents in Electronic Health Record (EHR), processing incoming paperwork such as subpoenas and discharge documents, and dispersing forms to appropriate staff members for completion.
· Assists in chart maintenance and audit documentation preparations.
· Contributes to the overall efficiency of the medical records department and Diversus Health’s medical records processes. Identifies and reports deficiencies.
· Strictly adheres to HIPAA regulations and Diversus Health’s confidentiality policies.
· Fosters a strong working relationship with internal and external entities.
· Promotes a positive work environment.
· Engages in team meetings, in-service trainings, and supervisory sessions as required.
· Performs other various duties as assigned.
· Supports Service and Administration Operations teams.
· Acts as a patient/client advocate at all times by ensuring they receive the best operational experience and quality customer service that meets their individual needs and preferences.
· Represents Diversus Health as a professional, ethical, and positive steward of the mission of the organization during community events and meetings.
· The environment at Diversus Health is fluid and roles and responsibilities may be altered to accommodate changing business conditions and objectives. Employees may be asked to perform duties that are outside specific work that is listed within their job descriptions. This position may require you to work standard hours, as well as flexible hours both before and after standard hours necessary to positions needs.
· Mobility clause: Based on business need, this position may be needed to work and/or travel on a temporary basis at any premises which the agency currently has or may subsequently acquire or at any premise at which it may from time to time provide services. This position may require that the employee travel with or without notice as needed within the scope of the position responsibility.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Minimum high school diploma or equivalent experience.
· 2+ years administrative experience, including 1 year in medical records, preferably in behavioral health.
· Previous experience with Electronic Heath Records, required.
· Knowledgeable of “Release of Information” process, required.
· Excellent data entry and computer skills. Must possess the ability to type at least 25+ wpm and demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat DC.
· Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information. Adheres to all HIPAA regulations and medical records procedures.
· Strong verbal and written communication. Able to appropriately interact with a variety of individuals.
· Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
· Possesses the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, concurrent priorities needing immediate resolution.
· Ability to occasionally lift 20-30 lbs.
· Ability to bend and stoop occasionally for long periods of time (2-4 hours)
