Qualifications

Position Title: Licensed Counselor (Mobile Crisis)
Location: Colorado Springs, CO (In-person, community-based)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

As an essential member of an interdisciplinary team, the Crisis Counselor (Licensed) works with individuals and their families to perform emergency crisis mental health assessments of clients whose lives are disrupted or complicated by mental illness, behavior disturbances, substance abuse issues, acute suicidality, homicidally, or the inability to function or maintain in the community due to mental illness. Conducts crisis evaluations, as requested by individuals in the community, to determine client disposition. Services include but are not limited to: comprehensive assessment of social, emotional, and psychiatric history/ diagnosis, treatment and safety planning, level of care assignment, connection with necessary resources, and admission to appropriate inpatient facilities, as warranted. Actively engages with crisis hotlines, schools, community partners, first responders and hospital emergency departments.

 

In addition to providing quality care, focus in this role is on clinical confidence and further expanding clinical knowledge and expertise as a licensed professional.

 

Essential Functions Clinical Care:

  • Provides comprehensive telehealth and in-person crisis assessments, de-escalation, triage and intervention at various locations, both within the organization and the community. Assesses clients behavioral status and provides evidence-based intervention strategies to include discharge planning and connecting to outpatient care.
  • Provides effective diagnostic assessments to include psycho-social history, diagnostic justification and conceptualization of client needs to drive treatment planning and quality of care.
  • Coordinates with various medical providers, family supports and additional service providers to determine client disposition, including collateral contact and determining plan for higher level of care as needed.
  • Supplies client, family members and/or caregivers with appropriate community and/or organization resources.
  • Serves as a crisis consultation with other Diversus Health providers as appropriate.
  • Engages at risk clients with strategic safety planning and interventions that deescalate and stabilize them and can initiative involuntary mental health hold if appropriate based on severity of risk.
  • Develops safety plans that balance risk assessment with client strengths, support systems, and supervisor feedback as needed to include counseling to access of lethal means.
  • Completes all documentation in clear, comprehensive, and timely fashion and meets quality standards, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Serves as a crisis consultation with other Diversus Health providers as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates multicultural awareness and sensitivity to client treatment preferences.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Licensed, in good standing, in the State of Colorado in a counseling, social work, or related behavioral health field (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PsyD, PhD)
  • Must have sufficient language skills and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing to accurately and professionally implement and document the services provided to clients.
  • Must possess basic computer skills and type 25+ w.p.m. for the input and output of client information, using electronic health record.
  • Must be able to perform and understand active listening, ethical conduct, social perception, service orientation, complex problem solving, writing, monitoring, judgment and decision-making skills
  • Experience working therapeutically with specified population.
  • Experience using various treatment modalities appropriate for specified population, utilizing strength-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
