Position Purpose

Performs various direct patient care activities under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

Position Duties (Not all Inclusive)

  • Provide consistent hygienic care to assigned patients in a thorough manner to provide maximum patient comfort.
  • Linen changes completed as appropriate for patient.
  • Take vitals on patients and document in the Electronic Medical Records.
  • Obtain and record I& Os, collect specimens, etc. on patient.
  • Performs Accu-check glucose testing as directed and reports results to appropriate nursing staff.

Qualifications

Position Summary:

The Nurse Care Technician (NCT) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, vital sign monitoring, mobility assistance, and documentation of patient care activities. The NCT works collaboratively with the healthcare team to support patient safety, comfort, and overall care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and dressing.

  • Monitor and record vital signs: temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and oxygen saturation.

  • Support patient mobility: help with repositioning, ambulation, transfers, and use of mobility aids.

  • Collect specimens such as urine and stool as directed.

  • Accurately document care provided and patient responses in the medical record system.

  • Report changes in patient condition to the RN promptly.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.

  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and families.

  • Comply with infection control and hospital policies and procedures.

  • Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer processes.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent credential preferred (varies by facility); Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Experience: Previous healthcare or patient care experience preferred.

  • Basic computer and documentation skills.
