Description

Under supervision of a physician, provides medical services to patients, collects and documents data, orders and interprets laboratory and radiological imaging studies and provides direct patient care.

RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

  • Assesses the health status, illness conditions, response to illness, and health risks of patients.
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to diagnose medical and surgical problems.
  • Prescribes necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
  • Takes patient histories, conducts physical exams, and focuses on health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Maintains timely documentation of the patient history and physical examination.
  • Leads and assists staff in awareness and understanding of Quality Measures and works collaboratively to continually improve patient outcomes.
  • Collaborates with the physician in the assigned practice setting and nursing, support staff, and other members of the health team.
  • Maintains recognized Standards of Practice and follows approved scope of practice.
  • Displays strong clinical skills as well as excellent interpersonal relationship skills in interpreting and communicating health care information to the patient and patient support system.
  • Covers other rural health clinics when other providers are on leave.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Coordinates with management to maintain RHC standards.
  • Appropriately adapts assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served.
  • Utilization of assistive devices for lifting is mandatory.
  • Must adhere to, and promote, safety protocols at all times.
  • Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations.
  • This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals.
  • Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools. Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to urgent situations. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.

Education and/or Experience: Nurse Practitioner: Completed graduate-level advanced practice registered nursing degree accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA). At least 3 years registered nurse clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred. At least 1 year experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner preferred. Physician Assistant: Completed physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) and at least 1 year of experience preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Current, unencumbered State of Oklahoma APRN or PA license. American Heart Association BLS required. For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
