Education: A high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Basic knowledge of supervision and development techniques, and the ability to supervise and assist with the performance evaluation of all custodial staff.
Knowledge and Ability:
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Ability to follow oral and written instruction.
- Ability to complete the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Aquatic Facility Operator course or equivalent course.
- Ability to read and follow simple drawings and sketches pertaining to repair and maintenance activities.
- Ability to effectively utilize the standard tools and equipment used in general maintenance and repair.
- Ability to monitor and make non-technical adjustments to the building heating and cooling systems.
- Ability to monitor building electrical systems.
- Ability to repair and maintain building fixtures and equipment.
- Working knowledge of general maintenance and repair procedures and practices.
- Working knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials used in building maintenance and repair.
- Working knowledge of swimming pool filtration and chemical systems preferred.
- Requires a valid Illinois State Driver’s License.
- Ability to perform simple building alteration functions involving carpentry, painting and masonry work.
- Ability to perform routine grounds keeping functions.
- Ability to operate boiler, pool filter and vacuum systems and make minor repairs to include start up and shut down of systems as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
