Education: A bachelor’s degree in Parks, Recreation, Resource Management, Hospitality & Tourism, or related education. Although a degree is preferred, extensive experience in a similar position with similar duties and responsibilities may be substituted for part or all of the educational requirements.
Certification: Must obtain Food Safety Manager Certification. Must obtain a valid applicator's pesticide spray license.
Experience: At least two years of recreation facility management with grounds and facility maintenance desirable. Experience working with the public required. Experience with maintaining building interior, and exterior, and operating grounds maintenance equipment. Experience and ability in maintenance, upkeep and troubleshooting of camp electrical, plumbing and well system. Experience with park operations in ecologically sensitive areas.
Knowledge and Ability:
- Basic knowledge of how to effectively and efficiently run a rental facility, increase revenue opportunities, and provide exceptional customer service.
- How to properly serve the public and responsibly handle situations and events as they arise.
- Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance procedures and equipment, facility repair and conservation practices.
- Ability to accomplish assigned duties with minimal supervision, and ability to supervise staff and volunteers.
- Must have ability to properly clean all public use areas and recognize park visitor needs to insure and improve guest satisfaction.
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
- Must have a valid Illinois State driver’s license.
- Must have the ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
- Must demonstrate proficiency with chainsaw and other power tools necessary to the position, or willingness to acquire these proficiencies.
- Personal: Must have personal integrity and demonstrate reliability, initiative, tact and resourcefulness. Understand the nature of rental facility management and the hours, flexibility and commitment involved.
