Description

Duties: Under the direction of the Human Resources Coordinator, the Human Resources Assistant (Part-Time) will be responsible for:

  • Answer and screen incoming calls, providing information to callers, forwarding calls to the proper personnel and referring caller to other sources as needed.
  • Assist with special events as needed.
  • Assist with different functions of the HRIS as needed.
  • Assist with the recruitment process as directed.
  • Assist with the maintaining of all job descriptions.
  • Assist with the upkeep of all active and inactive personnel files.
  • Assist in the logging of employment background checks and reference checks.
  • Support volunteer management projects as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Peoria Park District safety program.
  • Perform all other job duties as assigned.

 

This position is available 20 hours/week.

 

Essential Functions: The work requires some physical exertion in handling supplies and materials relevant to programming. Prolonged standing, bending and stooping. Ability to understand and complete paperwork and record keeping in order to complete duties. Ability to operate computer, copy machine, scanner, etc. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

Education: Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, additional college coursework work and word processing are strongly preferred.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of clerical or secretarial experience preferred; requires a working knowledge of general office procedures and Microsoft Word and Excel.

Knowledge and Ability:

  • Extensive knowledge of office procedures and ability to operate general office equipment, including scanner, copier, and multi-line phone system.
  • Knowledge and correct use of English grammar and spelling.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Proficient in basic Microsoft Office programs.
  • Aptitude for on-the-job training and ability to follow both written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with the prospective employees and Peoria Park District personnel in an enthusiastic and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to develop a broad-based knowledge of the community in order to further Park District objectives.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
  • A valid Illinois Driver’s License is preferred.
