Description

Duties: Under the direction of the Supervisor of Advancement & Communications, the Marketing Coordinator (Part-Time) is responsible for the following:

  • Develop and curate compelling content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and others. This includes writing captions, designing graphics, and editing videos to captivate our audience.
  • Collaborate with facility staff to gather relevant content, updates, and information about programs and events. Ensure that this content is accurately represented and effectively communicated across social media channels.
  • Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions. Engage with followers in a timely and authentic manner, fostering positive relationships and addressing inquiries or concerns.
  • Track key performance metrics, such as engagement rates, follower growth, and website referrals. Provide regular reports and insights to management, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all social media channels, ensuring messaging, visuals, and tone of voice align with brand guidelines and values.
  • Update and create graphics for use on social media, website, TV screens, and more!
  • Update select District websites through WordPress.
  • Support and advocate for in-program cross-promotion of District assets to improve patron retention and stewardship.
  • Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; support all aspects of the Park District’s safety procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as required.

 

This position is available 28 hours/week.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Physical: (minimal)
    • ability to sit for extended periods of time
    • manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard
  • Mental:
    • ability to maintain close concentration for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Education: Associates Degree required. Although a degree is preferred, extensive experience in a like position with similar duties and responsibilities may be substituted for part of the educational requirement.

Experience: Requires a minimum of two years of experience in marketing and advertising, preferably dealing with marketing endeavors as related to recreational and related services.

Knowledge and Ability:

  • Understanding of basic philosophy underlying a sound marketing and public relations program and ability to interpret that philosophy to staff and the public.
  • Basic knowledge and abilities in copy design, layout, editing, graphic art techniques and principles.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Adobe software.
  • Experience with graphic design for websites and online media. Comfortable updating our website through WordPress.
  • Ability to take and edit photographs.
  • Understanding of how to effectively market the PPD through various social media platforms.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with representatives of community, public and private groups and organizations and businesses to provide the best possible image of the Park District.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with fellow employees in an enthusiastic and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both speaking and writing.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Understanding of target markets and the uses of media resources to meet target markets.
  • Knowledge of community groups, organizations and business resources is helpful.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers. 
  • Reliable, takes initiative, shows creativity, tact and resourcefulness.
