SALARY: $19.00 Per Hour
The Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Marketing & Engagement Assistant is responsible for implementation of marketing content, campaigns, creating social media posts, and analyzing analytics. The Marketing & Engagement Assistant will perform a variety of routine administrative, technical, and professional work in the preparation of marketing activities. This position is part-time (25-30 hours per week), and the hours of work are flexible through coordination with the DDA Executive Director.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop clear messaging to clarify the DDA’s role, address concerns, strengthen public trust, and maintain consistent branding across all platforms and materials.
- Write, design, and publish engaging content for social media, email newsletters, websites, print materials, and press releases.
- Capture and edit photos and videos to showcase downtown businesses, events, and public spaces.
- Research marketing trends and creative ideas to keep content fresh and relevant.
- Assist in developing and executing marketing campaigns that promote downtown events, opportunities, and initiatives prioritizing opportunities to enhance downtown’s visibility and appeal.
- Manage the DDA’s social media presence, including content scheduling, community interaction, monitoring conversations, responding to inquiries, and optimizing posts for search engine visibility (SEO).
- Build and maintain relationships with downtown businesses, property owners, community partners, and local media to promote events, share success stories, expand the DDA’s reach, and proactively educate the public and stakeholders about DDA programs, grants, projects, and statutory purposes.
- Represent the DDA at community events, meetings, and outreach opportunities to foster engagement and awareness.
- Track campaign performance using analytics tools, prepare regular reports, and make data-driven recommendations to improve future campaigns and outreach efforts.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend evening or weekend events as needed to capture content and promote activities.
- Work with DDA Operations & Projects Coordinator on marketing logistics, such as signage, programs, and/or vendor coordination.
- Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and proactively.
- Experience in graphic design and photo/video editing tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.).
- Knowledge of marketing strategies, brand management, and digital advertising.
- Ability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships with downtown property and business owners, community partners, and the public.
- Proficiency with social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Analytical skills for measuring and improving marketing effectiveness.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge or willingness to learn WordPress/HTML.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Required:
College or University coursework in marketing, communications, graphic design, social media, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above.

The employee is also required to maintain the physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 30 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
Working Environment:
Work closely with others mostly in an office environment utilizing a computer, cell phone, and other office equipment and the ability to travel within the DDA district boundaries.
