COURT BAILIFF functions include but are not limited to the following:

•  Oversee Courtroom Activities:

Ensure orderly conduct during court proceedings, enforce policies, and maintain a secure environment.

Ensure safety of court personnel, prisoner/ detainee(s), and court attendees.

• Conduct Security Checks:

Search the courthouse and individuals entering for safety, removing illegal materials, and
filing criminal charges when necessary.

• Assist Court Personnel:

Aid court personnel and prosecutors, escort jurors to and from proceedings, and enforce
established procedures.

• Respond to Inquiries and Complaints:

Address public inquiries, resolve citizen complaints, and assist defendants with directions
and information on how and where to handle financial arrangements post-court.

• Police Officer Duties:

Perform all duties outlined in the Police Officer job description, including arrests when
necessary.

• Additional Responsibilities:

Attend and provide security for city council meetings, ensuring the security of mayor, city
council, and council proceedings.

Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

• Basic or higher Peace Officer License from the Texas Commission on Law

         Enforcement (TCOLE) at the time of appointment
