Description

Job Purpose:  Responsible for developing and implementing pre-opening sales and marketing strategies, building a client base from scratch, setting departmental budgets, hiring and training sales staff, and managing market activities to drive occupancy and revenue upon hotel laucn.


Job Responsibilities:  

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy.
  • Perform as the driver of all revenue and ensure quarterly and annual revenue goals are achieved for the hotel. 
  • Develop sales action plans, and forecast and evaluate trends to modify strategies that will enhance revenues effectively. 
  • Conduct on property visits.
  • Achieve optimal occupancy and ADR growth to maximize total revenue while meeting/exceeding hotel profit objectives.
  • Assist in the production of annual hotel business plan. 
  • Ensure hotel participation in all brand revenue management initiatives.
  • Oversee the development and management of the hotel's annual sales and marketing budget, including advertising, public relations and promotional campaings.
  • Identify and analyze market segments.
  • Proactively solicit and secure new business from various segments (group, transiet, corporate, leisure).
  • Develop and mainatain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and community partners to build loyalty and secure business.
  • Develop and maintain departmental budget. 
  • Maintain strong visibility in local community and industry organizations.
  • Timely submission of required reports to General Manager, Regional Vice President and Corporate Office.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Discretion/Skills and Independent Judgement:

  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills to guide a team and influence clients.
  • Proficient with brand sales systems, CRM tools and other releveant sales platforms.
  • Must have thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing.
  • Develops sales action plans and forecasts and evaluates trends to modify strategies that will enhance revenues effectively.
  • Develops and maintains departmental budget.
  • May deviate from established procedures to modify strategies that will enhance revenues effectively.
  • Modifies strategies that will enhance revenues.
  • Assists in the production of annual hotel business plan.
  • Leads, trains & mentors sales staff including hiring, coaching development, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Makes an independent choice to develop sales action plans and evaluate trends to modify strategies that will enhance revenues.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to speak and hear in English. Close and distance vision. Frequent sitting with some walking and standing. Frequently lifts/carries up to 10 lbs. Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
  • Able to work overtime and irregular hours

Working Conditions:

  • Continually works in normal office conditions and in close proximity to others.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel or a related field.
 

Experience: Minimum 3 years hotel progressive sales leadership experience (pre-opening highly preferred) with a proven track record in the hospitality industry, ideally with brands like Marriott.
 

Licenses/Certifications: Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive to customer appointments.
