Associate Teacher

The Associate Teacher will be responsible for fostering the intellectual and social development of children from Kindergarten to 8^th grade. The Associate Teacher will assist the teachers in teaching core skills and objectives to mastery as prescribed by national standards. Additionally students cultivate understanding and appreciation of Osage culture, inspiring self- esteem and strengthening attitudes among students and their community. The Associate Teacher operates within the framework of lesson plans developed and administered by the Teacher. The Associate Teacher’s purpose is to help with instruction and reinforce the curriculum as taught by the classroom Teacher.

• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field preferred. High School diploma required. Para Certification required.
• Basic knowledge of Osage language and/or actively attending Osage language classes
• At least one year of experience in an educational environment
• Must have a food handlers permit within eight (8) weeks of hire
• Must have initial TB screening
• Must have initial physical (and yearly)
• Must have a current CPR and First Aid certificate (pediatric/to Adult) or obtain it within eight (8) weeks of hire
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stoop, bend and lift on a daily basis
• Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics
• Requires a high level of problem solving skills
• Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including conferences and training sessions
• Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs and a Smartboard
• Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting
• Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing
