Description

An individual in this position conducts daily inspections, completes daily reporting, and generally provides oversight of the contractor’s work to ensure compliance with design drawings specifications and permits. This is a seasonal, part-time position.  Local residents only.

Essential Functions

  • Keeps daily inspection records (and records on the Daily Log) which include a description of the construction activity, time of day, daily weather, crew members and equipment make and model, names of visitors, and irregularities and corrective action regarding compliance with the drawings, specifications and permit.
  • Ensure compliance of work completed according to drawings and specifications and report same on the Quantity Records. Notes relevant data and discrepancies on reporting tools.
  • Observe traffic control set up in accordance with the permits.
  • Work with the Contractor in coordinating the schedule of operations as directed by the on-site Archaeologist and Project Manager.
  • Record and documents notable discrepancies in Company’s digital reporting tools.
  • Submit accurate time sheets and expense reports to the Project Manager.
  • Photograph site progress and submit reports to office.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 1+ years of field utility/telecom/construction inspection experience preferred
  • Experience with trenching, plowing, boring, excavations, or cable placement a plus.

 

Skills

  • Able to interpret and explain plans specifications and permits.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Able to stand for long hours and traverse rough terrain.
  • Ability to physically perform field work, requiring working in hot and cold weather while handling equipment
  • Knowledge and ownership of smart phone to communicate with office and send documentation as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills, team player, detail oriented, motivated.
  • Local resident of Kapolei (within 20 miles)
  • Owns reliable vehicle.

 

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Computer/GPS/electronic system experience preferred
