Position Summary
The Pediatric Registered Nurse (PRN) provides compassionate, family-centered care to pediatric patients at Park West Health System. The PRN is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents in collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams. This position ensures compliance with Park West standards, state and federal regulations, and the principles of patient-centered medical home (PCMH) care.
Essential Functions
- Deliver safe, age-appropriate, and culturally competent nursing care to pediatric patients.
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, allergies, and medications accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, assisting providers as needed.
- Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, and immunizations in accordance with Park West and CDC guidelines.
- Perform specimen collection and point-of-care testing; ensure proper labeling and documentation.
- Educate patients and families about medications, treatment plans, chronic disease management, and preventive health practices.
- Monitor patient responses to care and communicate changes in condition to the provider promptly.
- Oversee Vaccine for Children (VFC) compliance, including temperature log maintenance, vaccine inventory, and documentation.
- Triage patient calls and messages per nursing protocol and provider direction.
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.
- Collaborate with providers, medical assistants, and care coordination staff to support continuity of care.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of Park West Health System.
