Coordinated Specialty Care Early Onset Supported Employment and Education Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Coordinated Specialty Care-Early Onset Supervisor (CSC-EO), trains and provides job and education coaching skills, to individuals participating in the CSC-EO program. Duties involve developing and maintaining long-term contact with individuals in services, their families, and service providers for medical, social, educational, substance abuse and related service needs. Will help individuals in the program to pursue permanent competitive jobs and/or academic opportunities in mainstream, integrated educational settings. Travel within the Pecan Valley region is required. Services may be provided at the office, in-home, or other community locations as needed to meet the needs of those served. Must be familiar with, and/or willing to be trained in, trauma-informed care. This includes understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of all types of trauma, and an ability to work in an environment where staff convey dignity, respect, hopefulness, and the opportunity for choice and empowerment among consumers.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Teaches effective work/school habits, interpersonal skills, back to work/school adjustment skills, and work skills. This will include discussing goals for employment and education, assisting in gathering identification documentation for employment, assisting with completing job applications and submitting resumes. Monitors vocational and school activities and completes necessary reports. Will also participate in weekly mental health treatment meetings and regular supervision sessions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with other staff and individuals in services. Knowledge of agency and community resources and continuity of service options available to individuals. The ability to determine eligibility for case management and other mental health services through review of the record and discussion with the unit’s other case managers. Ability to coordinate and participate in service planning at all levels of care. Ability to work independently, organize work, prioritize the needs of individuals served and of the agency, and use sound professional judgment. Capacity for flexibility in dealing with ongoing changes in their service delivery system. Good communication and computer skills.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:        Bachelor’s degree in a social, behavioral or human services field is required.

Experience:      Experience in a social, behavioral, or human services occupation is preferred.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• Ability to be credentialed as a Qualified Mental Health Professional-Community Services (QMHP-CS)
• Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.
• A valid Texas Driver License and good driving record is required along with a copy of a valid auto insurance card

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, lift 25 pounds, sit for an extended period, walk over various types of terrains, and reach overhead.
