Description

The Director of Non-Profit Special Events will be the driving force behind our dynamic event planning and execution to help raise funds to provide support, education and therapy for children with and without disabilities. This position oversees all aspects of event management, from initial concept, soliciting donors/sponsorships through to execution, ensuring that every detail aligns with our vision and exceeds expectations.

  • Lead the planning and execution of a diverse range of events (agency fundraising events and staff recognition/retention and professional development events) ensuring they are delivered on time and on board.   This includes, but is not limited to, creation of the time line/task list/plan, coordination of food and beverages, table set up, silent and live auctions, committee support, mailings, venue coordination, production elements, onsite coordination to ensure the highest standard of quality and service.
  • In partnership with the VP of Development and CEO, solicit fundraising event sponsorships to achieve budgeted revenue goals.
  • Provide leadership to all auction solicitations to achieve budgeted revenue goals.
  • Work with VP of Development to cultivate on-going community partnerships & potential donors.
  • Organize and lead collaboration with the Marketing Team to develop and implement innovative strategies to maximize attendance and engagement including external communication, and event marketing (i.e social media/website).
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors, venues and suppliers to ensure the best possible terms.  Track event budget including monitoring budget, creating check requests/invoices, and reporting.
  • Produce accurate reports to be utilized for database/mailing/programs, etc.
  • Ensure that the donor database is maintained for all event donations (including sponsorships/in-kind donations, table sales etc.) and thank you/acknowledgement are completed timely and accurately.
  • Assist in creating content for social media and UCP website related to development/fundraising and donor recognition activities. 
  • Participate as a member of the Core Leadership Team.
  • Update Monthly Development KPI Report
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of the Annual Development Plan

Qualifications

Minimum Experience/Skills

  • 5+ years demonstrated success coordinating large (500+guests) special events.
  • 2+ years’ experience implementing non-profit special events including securing donor sponsorship.
  • Knowledge of how to successfully integrate fundraising within special events.
  • Proven track record of generating revenue from events.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills for effective communication that foster collaboration and enhance guest/donor experiences.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting for large-scale events while maximizing resources effectively.
  • Strong technology skills including demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to travel in geographic area and work flexible hours, including some nights and/or weekends.
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including team members, donors, volunteers, board members & prospects.
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment in maintaining confidentiality.
