As an AM In Room Dining Order Taker at The Umstead Hotel & Spa, the primary function of this position is to take all orders over telephone or from pre-order forms and enter them into Micros. Order Takers will take guests requests and communicate all information to the servers so they can create a complete dining experience with tasks congruent to Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond Standards of service. An Order Taker AM position at a Forbes-rated hotel is a frontline service role in In Room Dining (IRD) responsible for providing seamless and anticipatory service during morning hours, often aligning with Forbes Travel Guide standards of luxury and excellence.
Answer guests call for room service with a warm, professional tone. Take accurate food and beverage orders, input orders promptly into the POS system and coordinate with kitchen and server Team. Confirm orders and delivery time clearly, ensuring with attentiveness. Knowledge of the menu, wine list, and any dietary options.

You will learn to input the guest order quickly and accurately using our In Room Dining POS system. You'll need to know your way around modifiers, special instructions, and timing tickets like a pro and learn Crave.
Tech Skills We Look For:
*Comfort with touch-screen devices and quick typing for orders entry, communication and reporting (emails, basic spreadsheets, internal documents) familiarity with Outlook and Excel is helpful.
*Ability to multitask between systems while keeping a calm, polish tone.
*Awareness of timing, accuracy, and coordination to meet luxury delivery standards.
*Experience with hospitality tech is a plus, but we'll train with patience and support!
