Helping Hand is seeking a Medical Billing and Claims Specialist to join our billing team and ensure timely, accurate posting of insurance claims and payments.  Reporting to the Billing and Claims Manager, you'll handle the day-to-day billing operations and help drive revenue cycle efficiency for our outpatient clinic and state-funded programs.

 

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:

  • On-site position, full-time, Monday - Friday. 
  • 40 hours per week.
  • Salary range $55,000-$60,000/year (salaried/exempt).  
  • Salary based on skills and experience.
  • Up to 8% annual bonus potential.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Submit accurate and timely claims to Medicare, Medicaid, private insurers, and HMOs.
  • Post and reconcile payments; manage credit balances and refunds.
  • Follow up on denied or unpaid cliams and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain therapist credentialing and payer contract records.
  • Track insurance authorizations, eligibility, and clinical documentation compliance.
  • Generate AR and collections reports; support audits and reporting needs.
  • Update client billing records and payer information.
  • Respond to client/family inquiries regarding coverage and billing.
  • Assist with DHS billing and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING:

Education/Training:

  • Associate degree (preferred) or 4+ years of billing experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience: 

  • 4 years of related experience may be accepted in place of a degree.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be accepted.
  • Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPSC coding, and EOB review.
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and managed care billing.

Skill Sets:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and medical billing software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to promote and adhere to company values.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to assist others, access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. 
  • The ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer). 
  • Consistently position self to maintain files in cabinets or assist others. 
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in all situations.  
  • Shared, multi-task, multi-person business office setting.
