Reporting to:               Chief Finance & Operations Officer

Mission of Position:     The Director of Information Technology will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s information technology systems and infrastructure. The Director of Information Technology provides leadership and oversight to all aspects of technology across the organization, and serves  as both a strategic planner and a hands-on technical resource — ensuring that the systems, networks, and data support the organization’s mission, staff, and long-term goals.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

Strategic and Administrative Leadership

  • Develop and implement an organization-wide IT strategy aligned with mission objectives and operational needs.
  • Establish policies and procedures for data security, access control, device management, and technology use.
  • Manage vendor relationships for outsourced IT support, hardware procurement, software licensing, and telecommunications.
  • Prepare and manage the annual IT budget, including cost projections for hardware, software, and services.
  • Provide leadership in selecting and implementing new systems or technologies to improve efficiency, data management, and staff collaboration.

Systems and Infrastructure

  • Oversee and maintain the organization’s hardware, software, internal file and GIS servers, and cloud-based systems (e.g., Microsoft 365 / SharePoint, Google Workspace).
  • Ensure reliable and secure operation of the organization’s network infrastructure, including GIS and general internet connectivity, Wi-Fi, VPNs.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and cybersecurity tools.
  • Implement regular system updates, patches, and backups.
  • Oversee and maintain audio/video infrastructure in our auditorium, conference spaces, and private offices.

Cybersecurity and Compliance

  • Develop and enforce IT security policies, including data protection, password management, and device security.
  • Lead efforts to ensure compliance with relevant data privacy and protection regulations.
  • Coordinate cybersecurity awareness and training for staff.
  • Establish protocols for incident response and disaster recovery.

User Support and Training

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT troubleshooting and support, coordinating with vendors or managed service providers as needed.
  • Create and maintain documentation, user guides, and training materials.
  • Provide onboarding and ongoing technology training for staff.
  • Identify opportunities to improve user experience and efficiency through better technology practices or tools.

Data Management and Systems Integration

  • Oversee management of databases, CRM systems, and other software used to support fundraising, operations, and programs.
  • Support data governance efforts to improve accuracy, consistency, and reporting capabilities across departments.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure technology supports mission-critical functions, reporting, and compliance needs.

 

Compensation:   Full Time, with competitive benefits and a salary range of:  $115,000  - $130,000

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent combination of certifications and experience).
  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience, including systems administration and support.
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, and IT projects.
  • In depth experience with networking, cybersecurity, and cloud-based systems.
  • Experienced in aligning technology solutions with employee needs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and establish structure in a growing IT environment.
  • Ability to lift or move equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Experience in a non-profit or mission-driven organization. Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce,).
  • Ability to develop and implement IT policies and governance frameworks.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Cloud+ or similar
  • Experience in a non-profit or mission-driven organization.
