Summary/Objective:

The Connections Director is responsible for shaping and managing the path of engagement within the church (in person and online) as well as developing and equipping volunteers so that the congregation can fully participate in community and serving opportunities to become like Christ.  Additionally, this role will recruit, equip and develop the Guest Services team of staff and volunteers in creating a positive, welcoming and helpful environment and experience for all who visit Southeast.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure Southeast maintains a guest-friendly environment for optimal guest experience.
  2. Ensure there is a clear process and communication for people to engage in the Southeast Christian Church community and serving opportunities.
  3. Create a dynamic experience for first time guests to welcome them, to streamline check-in processes, and to integrate into the church.
  4. Assist with the initial steps of the onboarding process for all church ministry volunteer opportunities, which includes development, promotion and maintenance the wide range of volunteer opportunities throughout Southeast.
  5. Be physically present on weekends in the Connections Studio and Guest Services areas to welcome and connect with the community and congregation.
  6. Assist in the planning of Connections classes in person and online, with subsequent follow up for each person who indicates interest in moving forward in their journey at Southeast.
  7. Disciple, develop, and equip volunteers to lead at all levels of Connections, Baptism and Guest Services.
  8. Focus on an ‘empower, equip, release’ model of volunteer development to optimize each person’s serving experience by prioritizing volunteer giftings and interests over needs and holes, which includes supporting S.H.A.P.E. ministry events and coaches.
  9. Create and coordinate a ‘volunteer central’ ministry by creating a space in the church for volunteers to perform needed tasks from all ministries while engaging in purposeful community.
  10. Oversee the baptism process, including interested individuals, communication (individuals, staff and ministries), scheduling, environment and experience, and a continued discipleship program.
  11. Coordinate volunteer team(s) and schedule them to assist families the day of baptism.
  12. Oversee the ushering, communion serving and offering/attendance counting during the weekend services.
  13. Collaborate with Operations Support and Environments, making sure locations are clearly labeled and directed for all new guests.
  14. Work with Communications to follow up with potential visitors identified through digital marketing platforms.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Time Requirement:
This position will be completed in approximately 40+ hours per week.  This position will require weekends/evenings and holidays.

 

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment and uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, desktop computers and telephones.

Qualifications

Requirements:                                                                                                           

Professional/Education

  1. 2+ years leadership experience preferred.  
  2. Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of job.
  3. Exceptional interpersonal and process creation skills, excellent communication. 
  4. Strong desire to fit within a team and work to accomplish its shared goals.
  5. Ability to work with and direct people at all levels, often under pressure with a strong attention to detail.
  6. Excellence in project management and multi-taking abilities.
  7. High degree of professionalism with ability to accomplish goals with minimal supervision.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with Planning Center a plus.
