Position Summary

The Enterprise Freight Broker is responsible for acquiring new business for the brokerage department. They will also facilitate transportation services between shippers and carriers. They should be able to utilize and expand on a book of business for existing and potential new business. The right candidate will have experience in Freight Brokerage.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Identify, manage, and contract a network of carriers to ensure adequate capacity for assigned markets.
  • Develop solid relationships with customers by providing transportation services.
  • Manage account relationships as the primary point of contact for day-to-day needs, including ongoing communications and coordination of customers’ needs.
  • Obtain shipping quotes from carriers and pass them on to clients.
  • Book freight service through established partner-carriers.
  • Track shipments for timely delivery utilizing the truck check process and resolve issues.
  • Negotiate with carriers to meet margin requirements and ensure maximum profitability.
  • Find carriers to transport loads and communicate load details based on client specifications.
  • Job duties may need to be performed outside of business hours when the need arises.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:

      Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field – Business, Transportation, Logistics preferred.

  • Knowledge of equipment (trucks, trailers, etc.)
  • Ability to develop long-term relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think and respond quickly to sales and service issues.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to manage negotiations.
  • Must adapt to the changing needs of clients.
  • Effective follow-up skills
  • Strong desire to be a part of a winning team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful, time-sensitive environment

      Experience

  • 2 to 5 years of non-asset freight brokerage operations.
