Description

Job Summary: Experienced in component selection of HVAC equipment. Create new designs for new HVAC equipment features and determine the specifications for each component. Collaborates with sustaining designers and engineers to ensure that product designs integrate seamlessly with other systems. Provides design guidance and oversight to mechanical designers, enabling them to release optimized designs. Travel for this position is expected to be between 10% and 15%.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops new or modifies current equipment selections
  • Creates new designs to support customer specials and develops the specifications for each new component.
  • Coordinates with engineering and others to deviate/approve part shortages.
  • Supports DFMEAs, PFMEAs, CFD, FEA, and Seismic evaluations and testing.
  • Stays up to date with local and national design codes and regulations to ensure that designs meet safety standards including but not limited to UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA
  • Collaborates with designers and engineers to ensure that the product designs integrate seamlessly with other systems.
  • Provides design guidance and oversight to assigned mechanical designers for specific projects enabling them to release optimized designs.
  • Tests and troubleshoots designs products to ensure they are functioning properly and are safe for use.
  • Works with engineering and operations to implement engineering change notices (ECN).
  • Provides support to production team to facilitate seamless product and feature releases.
  • Collaborates with the Product Design Engineering team to develop designs.
  • Creates cost estimates for the special request including cost of material and labor.
  • Produce software change requests for selection tool and test the results.
  • Reviews product specifications for designs and makes design recommendations.
  • Develops bill of materials and translation documents related to new or changed designs.
  • Prepares product documentation, operating instructions, and reviews related technical literature.
  • Reviews Mechanical CAD modeling and simulations.
  • Maintains and builds professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, or participating in professional societies.
  • Travels, when necessary in support of business needs.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology and 2 years’ industry experience, or an Associate’s degree and 5 years’ industry experience.

Work Environment:

  • Frequent exposure to manufacturing facilities with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Ability to work in conditions below 32 degrees or above 90 degrees on occasion.

Occasional travel as required.
