ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES

JOB SUMMARY:

This position assists the Director implementing a maintenance program for all Moody Gardens buildings, furnishings and equipment, horticulture equipment, all vehicles, trams, pumps, valves, filters, utilities and graphics.

POSITION AUTHORITY:

The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.

POSITION GUIDELINES:

Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with Director and Management Team on the daily operations and most efficient utilization of all facilities.
  • Assists with the development, direction and management of Maintenance and Engineering Departments, to include the Central Plant.
  • Assists in development of maintenance procedures for all new buildings.
  • Assist Director in consulting with Construction Management Team on all new construction.
  • Assist Director to maintain all drawing documents with hard copies and CAD drawings.
  • Use of CAD program to assist Director in presenting preliminary building ideas.
  • Participate with Director and Design Team on future phases of development.
  • Assist with the annual Moody Gardens budget to include operational budget and capital improvements in addition to Departmental budget.
  • Assist Director to create and develop Transportation Department of Moody Gardens.
  • Be available on a 24 hours basis for all emergency maintenance requirements.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

4-year college degree preferred with 5 years experience in a facilities department.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

CAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc., and other computer programs as specified. Displays an understanding of the concepts of management skill. Demonstrates oral communication and writing skills. Ability to express oneself clearly in verbal and written English. Practical experience in a business-related maintenance program

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Emotional maturity required.

Must be reliable, have a cooperative attitude and be in good physical health.

This is a hands-on position and at times may require working with hands and tools.
