Internship - Guest Relations Representative

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Greet all guests in a friendly, courteous, and positive manner as they enter the various attractions.
  • Demonstrate courtesy and efficiency to all guests at all times to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Meet buses to welcome school groups, field trips, tour groups, etc. to assist in a smooth group check-in by meeting with the group leader, reviewing their itinerary, distributing the group guidelines and directing the group leaders to the designated Ticketing windows for confirmation, check-in, payment and ticket acquisition in order to assist Ticketing staff and Group Sales staff on busy days. 
  • Assist with check-in (Ticketing) and monitoring (Curatorial) of large school groups in the Aquarium and Rainforest.
  • Meet, greet and direct special groups, birthday party guests and Animal Encounter participants to the appropriate destinations and event locations as needed.
  • Host and lead scheduled Aquarium or Rainforest tours for special guests as directed by Attractions General Manager, or Guest Services Manager.
  • Assist the Guest Services Manager and Ticketing/Scanning staff with maintaining the cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere for our guests by reviewing and inspecting the attractions on a daily basis, in addition to assisting with preparing the attractions (i.e. the Rainforest Entry, Aquarium Lobby, and Discovery Pyramid Entry) for opening.
  • Report all maintenance issues or housekeeping situations to Ticketing Supervisors, Ticketing Manager and/or Guest Services Manager.
  • Distribute Ticketing/Scanning documents such as Event Reference sheets and Daily Group sheets to designated locations in the Aquarium, Rainforest, Discovery Museum and designated seasonal attractions including the White Tent, ICE LAND and Festival of Lights entrance.
  • Inventory, manage, inspect and maintain the wheel chairs and strollers in proper working order for our guests. 
  • Make minor wheel chairs and stroller repairs as needed or arrange for more damaged items to be picked up for repairs.
  • Inventory, manage, inspect and maintain the tensile barriers utilized for queue lines. 
  • Miscellaneous office duties including mail pick-up/delivery, unpacking of packages/boxes, copying, filing, etc.
  • Maintain a neat and positive personal appearance
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the Moody Gardens’ attractions and amenities, in addition to the daily events and all special events offered seasonally.
  • Answer all inquiries with courtesy and respect for all guests, employees, and supervisors.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to develop daily operations plan in reference to attractions appearance, group(s) scheduled and staffing requirements.
  • Ability to interact effectively with sub-ordinates, superiors, peers and the general public.
  • Ability to answer guest’s questions in reference to attractions, events, directions and scheduling, as well as respond to visitor complaints.
  • Ability to retain large quantities of information and multitask.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to remain on feet standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform tasks that involve reaching and bending.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds and carry for a distance of up to 50 feet.
  • Ability to push/pull 30-50 pounds for a distance of up to 50 feet.
  • Routine exposure to bright lights and loud noises.
  • Ability to tolerate weather extremes.
