GENERAL SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is responsible for aiding the administration and management of nursing services, planning, organizing, developing and implementing quality nursing service programs for the ongoing professional development of licensed and non-licensed staff; maintaining compliance with CDPH, Federal, and State licensing guidelines. This position is exempt and reports directly to the Director of Nursing.Â
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initiates, develops, implements and maintains policies and systems to assure that resident care is of the highest quality.
- Develops and implements new programs which meet the needs of the residents and are on line with ACC Care Center’s long-range goals and objectives.
- Maintains contact with physicians as necessary according to residents’ needs; maintains an excellent working relationship with major health systems where ACC Care Center has contracts and for good public relations.
- Ensures the mission, strategic plan, and implementation of the plan for the nursing department is accomplished.
- Identifies and focuses on critical success factors in nursing; reviews 24 hour report daily to ensure timely, effective responses to admissions, change of condition, transfers, discharges, injuries, med errors, etc.Â
- Evaluates the findings of compliance rounds conducted by designated staff on a daily basis; designs, implements and evaluates actions to continuously improves quality.
- Participates as a member of the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee.
- Ensures excellent client satisfaction, employee effectiveness, quality and market leadership.
- Participates in the hiring, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, promoting, evaluating and employment decisions for the department.
- Responsible for supervision and organizational structure within the department; delegates and follows-up in an appropriate manner to ensure quality, equity, and consistency within the department.
- Conducts employee performance appraisals in a timely and thorough manner.
- Fiscally responsible in accordance with budgets and policies.
- Maintains constructive relationships with managers, peers, and employees; works toward the benefit of the facility in establishing a positive work environment, demonstrating value to all staff and residents.
- Attends, participates and facilitates appropriate in-service and other educational or management meetings.
