About the Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation:
The Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation was founded in 1998 to honor the life and legacy of Marie Lamfrom, a remarkable woman who fled Germany during WWII and came to Portland, Oregon – ultimately building a legacy as a generous mother and grandmother, businesswoman, and volunteer. Marie cared deeply for children and for her family; today we remember her legacy and memory through our philanthropy.
Since 1998 the Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation has been advancing and supporting the critical needs of education, arts, and community wellness. We look to further animate a legacy of family, trust, optimism, and urgency in our Pacific Northwest community – activating the unimagined, undreamt, and unrealized through charitable partnerships and grant awarding. In 2025, we plan to award more than $20,000,000 to nonprofit organizations in Oregon and Washington, each of whom support the arts, creativity, education, community, health, and/or well-being.

This position manages day-to-day communications, digital platforms, and event experiences that reflect the foundation’s mission, values, and aesthetic.
This individual is a strong communicator, creative thinker, and organized project manager with a deep commitment to storytelling, collaboration, and excellence. The ideal candidate brings both strategic insight and hands-on execution skills—comfortable drafting copy, managing vendors, planning events, and ensuring that all brand touchpoints express the warmth and integrity of MLCF.
The Manager reports to senior leadership and works closely with colleagues, consultants, and community partners to ensure a consistent and engaging brand experience across all platforms.
Please note: This position is designed as a full-time, 18-month role supporting new and evolving initiatives at the Foundation. We are hopeful that this role will continue beyond the initial term; however, as this is a new and project-based position, we cannot guarantee ongoing employment after 18 months.
Primary Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities and duties for this role include:Â
- Communications & Messaging (25%): Draft and edit executive communications; manage website content and accuracy; oversee LinkedIn strategy and engagement; collaborate with PR partners on media materials; and ensure consistent, values-driven messaging across all platforms.
- Brand Stewardship (25%): Manage and uphold the foundation’s brand identity across all platforms and materials; lead the 2026 rebrand initiative with external consultants; ensure consistency in voice, visuals, and tone; and guide brand decisions in alignment with family preferences and organizational priorities.
- Hospitality & Event Management (20%): Oversee hosting and hospitality to create an inclusive, service-oriented environment; manage logistics and scheduling for meetings and events; lead event planning and execution from catering to guest experience; collaborate with the Office Coordinator on all hospitality functions; and engage nonprofit partners in use of the foundation’s space.
- Board & Internal Communications (15%): Prepare clear, visually consistent materials for Board meetings and internal use; collaborate on grant database content and external communication of funding decisions; and maintain branded templates and guidelines to support internal alignment and effective communication.
- Budget Management (5%): Oversee the communications and events budget by tracking expenses, managing consultant and project costs, and providing regular financial updates and projections for leadership review.
- Measurement, Reporting, & Accessibility (5%): Monitor and evaluate communications performance through analytics and feedback; prepare reports for leadership and board on brand and outreach impact; and ensure all communications, branding, and events meet accessibility and inclusion best practices.
- Other Duties & Responsibilities (5%): Participate in professional development, conferences, and staff meetings; collaborate respectfully with leadership; engage in partner stewardship activities; and contribute flexibly to the ongoing growth, structure, and vision of the foundation.
