The Science Program
 

Notre Dame High School has a college preparatory science curriculum, with a strong Advanced Placement and Honors program. In addition to exposing students to a background in science that will enable them to function as effective citizens in a world that is scientifically and technologically oriented, the team provides a supportive atmosphere so that each student is encouraged to question, draw and act on her own conclusions.  The program includes opportunities for students to deepen their interest through the Independent Science Research Program.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach high school science courses, such as AP Biology, Anatomy and Chemistry
  • Align instruction with program area outcomes and graduation outcomes
  • Be familiar with educational research & current research in academic area
  • Collaborate with colleagues both within the academic team and across the curriculum
  • Create and implement lesson plans
  • Create and conduct appropriate student assessment regularly
  • Supports the mission of the school and the Hallmarks of a Notre Dame de Namur Learning Community

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science or other related field; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Current teaching credential

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of high school teaching experience
  • Experience with common core standards
  • Familiarity with advanced placement curriculum
