The STEM Program

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is a cross-curricular team focused on educating students for the inventive future ahead. This is a collaborative instructional team that works to integrate curriculum across the STEM disciplines. It is the goal of the team to foster the student’s abilities in data analysis, inventive problem solving and critical thinking. Through cross-curricular offerings, the work team strives to represent the interdisciplinary nature of STEM disciplines. The department emphasizes hands-on learning experiences as reflected in the NGSS, NCTM, and ISTE standards. The student experience in these courses is enhanced through a working partnership with the Career and Life Success program which exposes students to various STEM careers through guest speakers, experiential learning, field trips, internship and mentoring relationships.

 

 Responsibilities:

  • Ability to teach AP Computer Science A and AP Computer Principles
  • Familiar with Java programming language for AP Computer Science A
  • Familiar with Scratch, AppInventor, Greenfoot, Alice or other high level programming platforms
  • Familiar with “Big Data” and the integration of Data Science into the high school curriculum
  • Align instruction with STEM Cohort outcomes and graduation outcomes
  • Be familiar with educational research and current literature in academic area
  • Committed to development of learner centered pedagogy and learning environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues both within the STEM Cohort and across the curriculum
  • Possibility to add in a section of Engineering, Math, or Physics

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (Mathematics, Computer Engineering); Master’s Degree preferred
  • Current teaching credential

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school teaching experience
  • Familiar with Advanced Placement Computer Science Curriculum
  • Demonstrated leadership capacity

  • 2025-26 Maternity Leave Replacement (Aug – Oct)
