Job Title: JV Cheer Coach

Stipend:Â $ 2,600 per semester
Job Summary
The ECR JV Cheer Coach is responsible for coaching student athletes in competitive cheerleading techniques to prepare them for events and/or competitions. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport. show school spirit during all events, exhibit sportsmanship, positive conduct, and high levels of academic achievement. Works under the supervision of the Varsity Head Coach and Administrative Director overseeing Activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Participate in the organization, planning, and day of cheer tryouts with the Head Coach
• Develops a regular summer practice schedule and school year practice schedule that includes a minimum of three days per week during the academic year and at least five full weeks during the summer. Organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
• Assess cheerleaders’ skills and assign team positions with Cheer Advisor
• Creates a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development with Cheer Advisor
• Develop stunting and choreography routines throughout the academic year and summer practice in adherence to school policies and procedures.
• Have a repository of cheers to teach the team so that cheers are fresh and fun for football and basketball games
• Coach and instruct cheerleaders, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Observe athletes during games and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
• Attend and supervise all home football and basketball games as well as stunt competitions.
• Determine performance strategy based on the team’s capabilities.
• Always provide proper supervision of athletes.
• Make verbal and written reports to Administrator overseeing Activities when requested.
• Follow established procedures in the event of an injury.
• Follow state, regional and district regulations governing the athletic program.
• Always maintain professionalism.
 Teaches precautions and procedures to ensure safety and help prevent injuries. Promptly document all injuries.
• Models’ good sportsmanship behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, parents, officials, and spectators; reports discipline issues and other related concerns to the Administrative Director overseeing cheer.
• Never criticizes, admonishes, or argues with the Head Varsity Cheer Coach or any staff members within ears or eyes of the team or parents.
Qualifications:
Experience as a cheerleading coach at the high school or college level preferred. Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills related to cheers, cheer-dance, stunting, and choreography. Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with advisors, school administrators, parents.
Knowledge & AbilitiesÂ
• Knowledge and experience in sport • Previous coaching experience preferred
• All CIF Coaching Requirements
• CPR and 1st Aid Certification
• Must attend all games and practices (including Football & Basketball)
•Competitive Cheer (including stunt competitions starting late Fall and ending late Spring)
Required Fundraisers:
Throughout the year for uniforms and other gear, gifts for seniors, celebrations and banquets, gifts for advisors and coaches, etc. A fundraiser should be planned by September each year, a Holiday Fundraiser, and one during the Spring for the end of year banquet.
