As part of the Apple Valley campus team, the Associate Campus Pastor (ACP) is responsible for providing Campus and Team leadership and Operational oversight of the campus, all under the direction of the Campus Pastor. This position is the first go-to when the campus pastor is unavailable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Associate Campus Pastor is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:
1. Weekend Service Responsibilities
- Attend the weekend service planning meeting
- Assist in leading pre-service huddle
- Be on time and lead engagement for staff, volunteers, and attenders
- Be available, as needed, for platform announcements
- Pastoral point for any problems or concerns that arise during weekend services
- Pastoral liaison for in-service security
- Work lobby and serve team areas before and after services, making it a priority to connect and encourage serve team members, leaders, and coaches
2. Campus Ministries
- Lead Core groups, as needed
- Continually identify and recruit new small group and serve team leaders and coaches
- Pastoral point for Water Baptisms
- Pastoral point for Men’s Ministry/Events
- Help with recruiting & building a culture of global team participation for those who call River Valley their church home
- Lead a Global Team, as needed (Likely 1x/year or every other year)
3. Campus Leadership
- Provide Campus Leadership in the event the Campus Pastor is unavailable.
- Attend all campus deacon meetings
- Be intentional about building relationships with the campus deacons, ministry leaders and volunteers
- Identify, recruit and help develop new volunteer leaders
- Provide leadership and direction to the campus staff who lead the following areas: Connections, Administration, Pastoral Care, Women’s Ministry and Facilities
- Develop and train direct reports for leadership at the next level
- Manage direct report staff changes, as necessary
- Facilitate the production of key events (i.e. Water Baptisms, Campus Picnic, Leadership Night, Marriage Night, Men’s or Women’s events, etc.)
- Connect with Central to get the plan for each event and then prepare for and implement
- Provide direction and leadership to other staff and key volunteers that are helping to implement the event.
4. Pastoral Care
- Help identify problems, find solutions and handle conflicts within the campus. Keep Campus Pastor informed and involved as needed.
- Be available for Pastoral Care requests (i.e. mentoring and/or counseling meetings, hospital visits, funerals, etc.) from church attendees as needed.
- Field and respond to emails for general pastoral requests, delegate as appropriate
5. Campus Operations
- Work with Facility Manager, as needed, on building needs, repairs, landscaping, HVAC issues, snow removal, building security, etc.
- Execute decisions as needed for set up, tear down, and overall execution of various events occurring on and off campus.
- Serve as second contact (behind facility manager) for building alarm system
- Oversee administration duties of the campus
- Oversee maintenance related needs of the campus
Other Responsibilities
Individual will complete responsibilities in accordance with the church’s policies and applicable procedures as assigned.
